With Claudin Cherelus (calf) inactive for Saturday's divisional tilt, Barnes and Bam Martin-Scott will likely be the ones to fill his role at inside linebacker next to Christian Rozeboom. Martin-Scott will likely get the initial reps, but Barnes may see his first defensive snaps since Week 13 as Saturday's game develops.

Barnes has been productive when he's garnered defensive snaps in his four-year career, averaging 4.8 tackles per game. Kyzir White's season-ending biceps tear in 2023 provided Barnes with an opportunity, and he parlayed it into 34 tackles over the final six contests. White returned to health during the offseason program, meaning Barnes will be relegated to a reserve gig as long as the former stays on the field.
Barnes joined the Packers as an undrafted rookie in 2020 and put up 161 tackles in 29 appearances in his first two seasons. The arrival of 2022 first-rounder Quay Walker pushed Barnes to a reserve role last year, with Walker and De'Vondre Campbell manning the starting inside linebacker spots. Injuries didn't do Barnes any favors, either, limiting him to 29 tackles in six games. After Green Bay didn't tender Barnes as a restricted free agent this offseason, he moved on to Arizona, where he'll serve as MLB depth behind Kyzir White.
Barnes did not play as prominent a role last season as he did in his rookie year, but he still racked up 81 tackles despite playing second fiddle to All-Pro linebacker De'Vondre Campbell. Barnes slipped a spot on the depth chart after the Packers selected fellow inside linebacker Quay Walker in the first round of this year's draft, but he will provide some quality depth at the position.
Despite going undrafted in 2020, Barnes earned himself a prominent role in the Packers defense and finished second on the team in tackles. He was a bit inconsistent, but he had double-digit tackles twice during the regular season and once in the playoffs, so he has the potential to make a fantasy impact. The Packers lost inside linebacker Christian Kirksey in the offseason and didn't add someone specific to replace him, so Barnes is in position to be the top option in the middle in 2021.
