Jeff Driskel

31-Year-Old QuarterbackQB
Washington Commanders
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Driskel has made 11 career starts for five different NFL teams, winning just one of them and completing 58.6 percent of his passes for 6.1 yards per attempt. The 31-year-old is now in Washington, where he'll compete with undrafted rookie Sam Hartman for the No. 3 quarterback job. Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota seemingly have a firm grasp on the top two spots, making it unlikely that the winner of competition between Driskel and Hartman ends up seeing the field this season. Emergency QB for Week 11
QBWashington Commanders
Coach's Decision
November 14, 2024
Drisker (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday night's game against Philadelphia, but he will serve as Washington's emergency third quarterback, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As the emergency quarterback, Driskel will only see the field if starter Jayden Daniels and backup Marcus Mariota were both to be knocked out of Thursday's game due to injury. Driskel hasn't taken a snap on offense since Week 2 against the Giants.

How does the Cowboys pass defense compare to other NFL teams this season?
The bars represents the team's percentile rank (based on QB Rating Against). The longer the bar, the better their pass defense is. The team and position group ratings only include players that are currently on the roster and not on injured reserve. A sixth-round pick of the 49ers in 2016, Driskel has made 11 starts for four different teams since then, including two for the Texans last year. In seven games overall in 2022, he totaled 108 yards and a touchdown on 14-for-20 passing, 20 carries for 75 yards and a four-yard catch. Now with the Cardinals, Driskel is situated behind Kyler Murray (who is recovering from a torn ACL), Colt McCoy, rookie Clayton Tune and David Blough on the QB depth chart.
Driskel's deal with the Texans contains a $1 million base salary with numerous potential bonuses and incentives. Given the murky situation surrounding Deshaun Watson's future with the team, Driskel's landing spot is more intriguing for fantasy purposes than if he had been brought in to compete for a backup gig elsewhere. Beyond Watson, Driskel will vie for depth-chart slotting with veteran Tyrod Taylor and rookie third-round pick Davis Mills.
After sitting for his first two seasons as a pro, Driskel went 1-7 in eight combined starts in 2018 and 2019 for the Bengals and Lions. His passing stats were ho-hum and he's shown more dynamism as a runner than a passer. He fits the Broncos as a non-threatening veteran backup with some of the same traits as sophomore starter Drew Lock. If Lock misses extended time, however, the Broncos are likely sunk.
When Driskel replaced an injured Andy Dalton in Week 12 against the Browns, he threw for 155 yards and a touchdown and ran for another, lending some cause for hope that he'd be an adequate replacement while Dalton was out. But it turned out that "adequate" was Driskel's ceiling. While Driskel protected the ball, throwing just two interceptions in 176 attempts, he averaged 5.7 yards per attempt and led the Bengals to a 1-4 record. It can be argued that he didn't have a full offense to work with, as A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd missed significant chunks of time while he was at the helm. Driskel will try to hold off rookie Ryan Finley, drafted in the fourth round, as Dalton's backup.
Driskel missed all of last season with a broken thumb suffered in the preseason. His bad luck continued in December when he suffered a broken arm in practice. He has recovered from both injuries now and is listed as the Bengals' third quarterback, behind Andy Dalton and Matt Barkley. He has yet to take a regular season NFL snap despite being in the league for three years.
Driskel was a system pick for Chip Kelly and the read-option offense he brings to San Francisco. After underperformance and an eventual leg injury forced him out of Florida, Driskel went on to have a strong final college season at Louisiana Tech (4,033 passing yards and 28 touchdowns). He has the arm strength and quickness to thrive in a read-option attack, but his lack of accuracy makes him a project and a likely candidate to land on the 49ers’ practice squad to start the season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Will start regular-season finale
QBCleveland Browns
January 3, 2024
Driskel will start at quarterback in the Browns' regular-season finale Sunday against the Bengals, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Driskel has had a whirlwind week, going from Arizona's practice squad to starting for Cleveland with the Browns resting Joe Flacco in preparation for the playoffs. He will be the fifth quarterback to start a game for the Browns this season, joining Flacco, Deshaun Watson, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and PJ Walker. Watson and Thompson-Robinson are sidelined by shoulder and hip injuries, respectively, but head coach Kevin Stefanski said the team has yet to decide who will work as the top backup to Flacco in the playoffs. Driskel has a chance to surpass Walker on the depth chart with a strong Week 18 performance.
