Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ferguson’s 2024 campaign was derailed by Dak Prescott’s season-ending hamstring injury, as the tight end had 38 catches for 334 yards on 52 targets in seven games with Prescott and just 21 catches for 160 yards on 34 targets in seven games after Prescott’s injury. The 6-foot-5 tight end didn’t score a touchdown all season, and his red-zone usage plummeted to just six targets after he led all NFL TEs with 25 red-zone targets in 2023 (and produced five touchdowns along with 761 yards in a breakout sophomore season). He’s likely to land somewhere in between those two extremes in 2025 even while dropping to third on the pass-catching totem pole behind CeeDee Lamb and newly acquired George Pickens. For all of Ferguson’s struggles last season, his 86 targets were still second most on the team behind Lamb’s 152. Luke Schoonmaker filled in capably for a three-game stretch while Ferguson was sidelined by a concussion, but Ferguson stepped back into a clear starting role once healthy and should remain ahead of the 2023 second-round draft pick this year. Perfect on seven targets Sunday
Ferguson brought in all seven of his targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 40-40 overtime tie versus Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
Ferguson's perfect day at the office was highlighted by the tight end's first receiving touchdown of the season. The 26-year-old failed to sniff the 13 targets he averaged over his last two starts, but the increase efficiency coupled with a trip to the end zone resulted in his best standard fantasy score to date. Ferguson should continue operating as the Cowboys' No. 2 receiving option behind George Pickens for as long as CeeDee Lamb (ankle) remains sidelined -- a scenario that could repeat itself in a Week 5 matchup against the Jets next Sunday.

Ferguson’s box score stats from 2023 don’t jump off the page, even though he led all tight ends in targets inside the 20-yard line (25), inside the 10 (12) and inside the five (nine). Taking over as Dallas’ starter after Dalton Schultz left in free agency, Ferguson played all 17 games and finished ninth among TEs in catches (71), eighth in receiving yards (761), seventh in touchdowns (five) and seventh in targets (102). It was an impressive breakout, with a 93-yard, three-touchdown playoff game being the icing on the cake, though his total of five TDs in the regular season was disappointing relative to his wealth of volume near the end zone. The 25-year-old's best football could still be ahead of him, and while CeeDee Lamb is the Cowboys' obvious No. 1 option, Ferguson got 21 more targets than No. 2 receiver Brandin Cooks last year. The tight end should have a similar role this upcoming season, and perhaps with better red-zone luck than he had last year.

Returning to form in minicamp
Ferguson was one of the standout players during the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp practices this past week, Saad Yousef of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ferguson had a strong 2023 campaign, finishing with 71 catches on 102 targets for 761 yards and five touchdowns across 17 regular-season games, all career highs. His production dipped in 2024 due to injury and quarterback instability, but he should have more room to operate in the passing game if opposing defenses home in on the star wideout duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
