A workhorse for FCS power South Dakota State, Davis has the size and power to potentially be an effective short-yardage option in the NFL. Taken in the fifth round in 2024 by the Jets, he can run through tackles but also has the balance to survive traffic in the hole if he doesn't get clean blocking. A lack of elusiveness will invite a lot of contact though, and he didn't show standout receiving or pass protection skills in college. Davis looks to be third on the Jets' running back depth chart behind Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, though he did get the first reps out of the backfield Saturday. His biggest gain of the day came on his opening carry, which went for nine yards. Davis was a strong receiver in his final two years at South Dakota State, a skill set that could help him see the field occasionally on obvious passing downs once the regular season begins.
