2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Jets specifically selected Allen in the fourth round of the 2024 draft with the intention of turning him into a power and short-yardage specialist, including at the goal line. It's not clear what the impetus of that decision was – Breece Hall scored touchdowns at a downright greedy rate at Iowa State and never played in a Jets offense good enough to prove anything had changed as a goal-line runner – but the Jets picked Allen and plugged him into that role immediately. Allen is naturally polished as a passing-down back, both in terms of blitz pickup and pass-catching ability, but as an overall threat from scrimmage he might lack the speed necessary to earn significant usage. Allen is likely one of the very slowest running backs on any NFL roster, if not the slowest, and Allen lost momentum to fifth-round fellow 2024 pick Isaiah Davis as the season went on. New coach Aaron Glenn wants to build a dominant, run-heavy offense with the Jets and is holding an open audition between Hall, Allen and Davis for all the work that there might be, but there just isn't much objective reason to think Allen would win that open competition over Davis, let alone Hall. If Allen can retain the goal-line specialist role then he could offer conventional fantasy utility, though, especially if the Jets offense improves in 2025. Read Past Outlooks

Solid workload in preseason win
Allen rushed eight times for 33 yards and failed to bring in his only target during the Jets' 30-10 preseason win over the Packers on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The second-year back saw Breece Hall take the first two carries, but Allen went on to rip off his game-long 14-yard rush on his first touch later in New York's first possession. Allen went on to log four more rush attempts on the Jets' second drive, and although he didn't record any other noteworthy gains, the timing of Allen's usage within the game underscores the fact he's projected for a role that will net more than the 111 total touches he recorded across 17 regular-season games during his rookie 2024 campaign. Allen is likely to see another solid workload during next Saturday night's second preseason game against the Giants.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Allen's prospect profile out of Wisconsin is incomplete after he declined to run a 40-yard dash ahead of the 2024 Draft, but he was generally a productive player in college and could prove useful in the NFL too. At 6-1, 235, the fourth-round pick relies on size and power rather than speed or agility, and with the Badgers he stomped his way to 1,268 rushing yards as a 17-year-old true freshman. Allen's age could actually be a detriment in the short term -- he won't turn 21 until January -- but fellow Jets running backs Israel Abanikanda and Isaiah Davis both are unproven in their own right. One of the three is expected to emerge as the backup to Breece Hall, who figures to be one of the more heavily used lead backs in the league.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Comped to Montgomery
Allen is expected to see an expanded workload in 2025, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Allen got positive reviews during both offseason practices and training camp leading into 2024, but he didn't make the impact expected of him come the regular season. The Jets have apparently written that off as the product of a poor overall offense that struggled to run the ball. Heading into 2025, Allen could see an expanded role as an early down back, with Rosenblatt comparing Breece Hall to Jahmyr Gibbs and Allen to David Montgomery. While those are lofty comps, they are notable considering both head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand come from Detroit.
