Armstrong made the move from Dallas to Washington in 2024, following Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, and ended up starting 15 of the 16 regular-season games in which he played. That was more starts than he had during his six years with the Cowboys, but Armstrong's pass-rushing production - 5.0 sacks, 14 QB hits - was right in line with the numbers he'd put up in Dallas from 2021 to 2023 while mostly working off the bench. He's a capable defensive end, but not a top one by any means. Read Past Outlooks

                                    Out for rest of season
Coach Dan Quinn said Monday that Armstrong (knee) will miss the remainder of the season, Commanders writer Ben Standig reports.
				ANALYSIS
Armstrong suffered the knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys after logging just four defensive snaps. The 28-year-old defensive lineman's season is over after compiling 24 tackles (16 solo), including a team-high 5.5 sacks. Washington already has several other edge defenders on injured reserve, so the team may need to look outside the organization for help at the position.

A 2018 fourth-round pick, Armstrong didn't play much his first three seasons in Dallas but eventually emerged as one of the better backup defensive ends in the league. He had at least five sacks and 12 QB hits each of the past three years under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who will now be Armstrong's head coach in Washington. The change in teams also figures to make Armstrong a starter, rather than coming off the bench behind Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence again. Armstrong's per-snap production from Dallas hints at double-digit-sack potential now with the upcoming workload increase.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
    Could thrive in larger role
Armstrong is likely to increase his production after going from Dallas to Washington in the offseason, per Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com.
				ANALYSIS
Armstrong was used in a situational role on a Dallas defense that also featured Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence, yet he still managed to rack up 8.5 sacks in 2022 and 7.5 sacks in 2023. After finding success under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn with the Cowboys, Armstrong will be playing under Quinn once again in Washington, as Quinn will be the Commanders' head coach. With a full-time starting role on the edge of a defensive line that has Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen potentially demanding double teams on the inside, Armstrong could be poised for his most productive season yet in 2024.
