Sees dip in production

Jones recorded 23 total tackles (11 solo), including 2.5 sacks, and one pass defended over 16 regular-season games in 2024.
ANALYSIS
Jones started 16 of the Bills' regular-season games this year after missing 10 contests in 2023 due to a pectoral injury. However, the 33-year-old's production declined significantly, as he recorded 15 fewer tackles than in 2022, when he also appeared in 16 regular-season games. Despite the drop in tackles, Jones tallied 2.5 sacks, proving he can still provide some value as an interior pass rusher. The Penn State product is headed into the final year of his current contract after signing a two-year, $16 million extension with the team last offseason.

Jones enters his eleventh season in the league and third in Buffalo as a solid starter at one of the team's defensive tackle slots. He is much more of a run stopper than a pass rusher and has led the Bills in run block win rate since he's been with the team. He's coming off of a pectoral injury that ended his 2023 season early but the Bills believed in him enough to reward him with a two-year, $16 million contract in March.
This will be Jones' tenth season in the NFL and another year as a starter at Defensive Tackle for the Bills. He's a steady performer with 126 career games as a starter. Last year he had two sacks and 38 tackles.
Jones inked a one-year deal with the Panthers this offseason after posting a career-best 49 tackles in 2020. The 29-year-old is now expected to compete with second-year pro Bravvion Roy to start alongside Derrick Brown at defensive tackle this season.
Jones has been a steady presence along the Tennessee defensive line, starting all 16 games in four of his last five seasons. He is limited as a pass-rusher -- he has just 7.0 career sacks -- but is the longest tenured player on the defensive side of the ball after the offseason departure of Jurrell Casey. He'll also serve as a leader on the field, as he committed zero penalties on his 799 snaps in 2019.
Jones re-signed with the Titans on a three-year, $21 million contract this offseason as he projects to once again start at left defensive end across from Jurrell Casey. Jones' 2017 campaign ended prematurely in Week 13 due to a torn biceps, but he managed to rack up 31 tackles (19 solo) and 3.5 sacks in 12 games.
Jones has started all 16 games in each of the past two seasons, but has just 1.5 sacks in that stretch while working at both nose tackle and defensive end. His versatility should allow the 2014 fourth-rounder to see the field a decent amount, though the offseason addition of defensive tackle Sylvester Williams will cut into his playing time.
Jones was a key member of Tennessee’s three-man defensive front in his second season, registering 45 tackles while playing all 16 games. He’ll be asked to do the same job in 2016, though his upside is limited as the Titans rely mostly on outside linebackers for their pass rush.
Jones should start at defensive end after recording only one start in seven appearances as a rookie in 2014. The Penn State product will benefit from plenty of one-on-one matchups since teammate Jurell Casey often draws double teams at the line of scrimmage. Jones has an excellent opportunity in front of him, but he probably won't make it onto the IDP radar until he shows he can put up meaningful statistics at the NFL level.
Will look to provide Tennessee with defensive line depth and could be team's nose tackle of the future down the road.

Top free agent priority for Bills?
DTBuffalo Bills
February 17, 2024
Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic believes the Bills should make re-signing Jones -- who's set to enter free agency -- the team's biggest priority of the offseason.
ANALYSIS
Jones was one of several Bills defenders who sustained an injury during the 2023 season. Luckily for Buffalo, the 2014 fourth-round pick was able to return from a 10-game absence due to a torn pectoral and played in the team's last four games of the season, two of which came in the postseason. Buscaglia notes that while Jones turned 32 last December, he was by far the best run defender for the Bills, and the team struggled to substitute his production when sidelined. Given Jones' age and injuries, he and the Bills could work toward a short-term deal this offseason and re-evaluate once 2024 is over.
