Reed was signed by the Bears in April as an undrafted free agent. The Western Kentucky product played for six years in college. During that time, Reed's 63.2 percent completion percentage was unimpressive. However, the quarterback's 71:22 TD:INT was notable. Reed likely will compete with four-year pro Brett Rypien to be Chicago's No. 3 QB. The Bears signed Reed to the practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Reed was unable to beat out Tyson Bagent for the backup quarterback job behind Caleb Williams. However, Reed will stick around on the practice squad and will serve as the emergency quarterback unless Chicago picks up another signal caller before Week 1 against Tennessee.
