This week, I will rank the top pass defenses to target (through 13 weeks), guess at the highest owned players this week and provide some picks for week 14.
Pass Defenses to Target
Below, I have ranked all of the pass defenses from 1 (best pass defense to target) to 32 (worst). In the chart, I have included the passing yards allowed per game, passing touchdowns, completion percentage, attempts per game, average per attempt, interceptions, sacks, my pace rank and the amount of points per game they are conceding.
Chicago comes in as the top pass defense to target. I really like to target the top nine teams on this list from the Bears to the Jets. Tampa Bay, Washington and the Jets are a little more risky because they are such bad teams there is always a chance at a blowout, leading to a run out the clock situation.
A big surprise to me was the Vikings at 27; they are only giving up 219 passing yards a game. The teams below them should usually be avoided. As expected, Seattle comes in as my hardest team to pass on; do not target quarterbacks or wide receivers against the Seahawks.
Week 14 Projected Highest Owned Players
QB – Aaron Rodgers ($10,400)
RB – Eddie Lacy ($8,500), Tre Mason ($7,200)
WR – Kenny Stills ($6,400)*Highest Owned in Week 14, ($6,600), Josh Gordon ($8,000), Jordy Nelson ($8,900)
TE – Delanie Walker ($5,400)
K – Mason Crosby ($5,000)
D – Denver Broncos ($4,700)
Week 14 GPP Plays – Low Ownership Players
QB – Russell Wilson ($8,500)
RB – Denard Robinson ($6,400), Giovani Bernard ($7,300)
WR – Marqise Lee ($5,700), T.Y. Hilton ($8,600), Charles Johnson ($6,000)
TE – Kyle Rudolph ($5,200)
K – Dan Carpenter ($5,000)
D – Houston Texans ($5,100)
Week 14 Value Play of the Week
Kris Durham ($4,500) – This pick is a real boom-or-bust play at minimum price. The Titans are short at the wide receiver position. Justin Hunter (lacerated spleen) is out for the year and Kendall Wright is questionable with a cracked bone in his hand. Durham is a big receiver that should be able to get a target or two in the red zone. If he can pull one in touchdown, he will instantly pay off his minimum salary. I played him in a Thursday GPP and he was 0.1 percent owned, so he does have a lot of tournament potential. He is very risky, though, so only play him in tournaments.
Week 14 Stud of the Week
Packer Wide Receivers – Pick your poison here. It could be Jordy Nelson ($8,900), Randall Cobb ($8,400) or Davante Adams ($6,000). One, two, maybe even all three of these guys could have a monster game against my fourth-easiest defense to pass against. The Packers have been crushing teams at home, so there is always a chance of a blow out. However, Atlanta should have enough offense to keep this close enough to deter Green Bay from abandoning the pass. If these Packers wideouts play all four quarters, they will put up numbers.
