QUARTERBACK
Tom Brady, NE vs. NYJ ($7,400): A lot of this week will be weeding through the players and figuring out who has something to play for and who might be rested or only play part of the game. Brady plays in the early game Sunday, and while it's a long shot for the Patriots to get the No.1 seed in the AFC, they can get a first round bye with a win over the Jets. Brady is coming off his worst fantasy performance of the year (7.04 fantasy points) a result of attempting a season-low 24 passes. This week against a weaker Jets defense, the passing game should be more fruitful, as Brady scored 19.22 fantasy points in their earlier meeting this season. While there's nothing wrong with rostering Ben Roethlisberger ($8,700) or Patrick Mahomes ($9,500) this week, they both come at a much steeper price.
RUNNING BACK
Royce Freeman, DEN vs. LAC ($4,700): With Phillip Lindsay's season over, Freeman is slated to be the main running back for the Broncos with Devontae Booker (another viable option at $4,500) sprinkled in. While the Chargers have been solid against the run and need a win Sunday, Booker should get 15-plus touches including all of the goal line work. Freeman should be somewhat fresh with only 113 attempts this season, and his 2.9 yards after contact is one of the best marks among running backs. At this price, expecting only double-digit fantasy points would make value for Freeman with the upside for 3X or 4X given the expected volume.
C.J. Anderson, LAR vs. SF ($6,200): All Anderson did in Week 16 – upon getting his first start of the season on a team he hadn't been on for a week – was lead the league in rushing yards with 162. This game does mean something for the Rams, as they can clinch a first-round bye, and it sounds as if Todd Gurley's availability is undecided once again at this point in the week. The Rams would be wise to err on the side of caution in a game they should easily win without Gurley. That would put Anderson in line for another big workload (around 20 carries), and he comes at a cheap price, which allows money to be spent elsewhere for a roster. This is a good matchup as well with the Rams at home and the 49ers allowing the 10th most fantasy points to opposing running backs.
WIDE RECEIVER
Robert Foster BUF vs. MIA ($5,800), Zay Jones BUF vs. MIA ($5,300): It seems over the last several weeks it's tough to pick out which Buffalo wide receiver to use in DFS, but one of them will have a big game at a cheap price. The truth is one of them has had a big game in each of the last six weeks, but for the most part it's tough to tell which one will. The key here is that Buffalo has such a narrow receiving tree it's worth it in GPPs to make a lineup with one, and do a second entry with the other. Here's the fantasy points for each using this strategy:

This shows over the last six weeks having one of them in your lineup would have paid off nicely, as neither of their prices this week was as high. Feel free to deploy this strategy against the hapless Dolphins.
Julian Edelman, NE vs. NYJ ($7,100): Tom Brady's passing tree lost a player a couple of weeks ago after Josh Gordon was suspended (again), leaving Chris Hogan to move up a spot on the depth chart. Hogan wasn't even targeted last week, while Edelman saw double-digit targets for the third consecutive game. He now has double-digit fantasy points in nine of his last 10 games, showing how consistent he's been this season, and it's already been noted that the Jets are not a good defense. In a game that has a first round bye at stake, expect Edelman to be busy Sunday and a good player to pair up with Brady in a DFS lineup.
TIGHT END
Travis Kelce, KC vs. OAK ($7,700): Paying up for Kelce or Zach Ertz ($7,800) seems like a logical move this week given that money can be saved elsewhere and tight end (once again) is a wasteland for DFS this week. Kelce has nine games with double-digit fantasy points, and four of those were more than 20 fantasy points, showing how much upside he has. Oakland is a great team to pick on given its defense who has allowed the seventh most fantasy points to the position this season.
FLEX
Jamaal Williams, GB vs. DET ($68,00): Williams or Damien Williams ($6,900, no relation) are both good options this week playing at home and in good matchups. While it would be better if Spencer Ware was inactive, it's notable the Chiefs handed Damien a contract extension this week, suggesting he's in their future plans sans Kareem Hunt. Getting back to Jamaal, he'll be the workhorse again this week after getting 21 touches last week (nine targets in the passing game), and has scored 24.6 and 17.7 fantasy points over the last two weeks. The Lions are in the middle of the pack when it comes to giving up fantasy points to opposing running backs, and Aaron Jones and Williams combined for 15.1 fantasy points the first two times these teams met. That should be around the floor for Williams this week given the volume he should have.
DEFENSE
Seattle D/ST ($4,700): There are strong cases to spend up on a defense/special teams this week with both Seattle and Houston ($5,000), but Seattle is a 13.5-point favorite at home in a game with a 38.5 over/under. This suggests not only will the Cardinals have trouble moving the ball, their implied point total is around 12.5 points. In games like these, there's a good chance Arizona will abandon the running attack at some point and rely on throwing the ball, providing the Seahawks with a good opportunity for turnovers and sacks.
