This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.
Tonight's college basketball action includes an eight-game slate on DraftKings, where they feature their $10 Big Jam Contest with a $2,500 top prize starting at 6 p.m. EST. Over on FanDuel it's a smaller four-game slate with a 7 p.m. EST start time, highlighted by the $5.55 All American with $1,000 to first.
Top Players
Trayce Jackson-Davis, F, Indiana ($7,900 DK, $8,900 FD)
Jackson-Davis has emerged as one of the best players in the country and a true workhorse for the Hoosiers that accounted for 10 double-doubles (37 percent of games) last season. I expect improved efficiency from the post-player now that Indiana has a reliable number two scorer in Pitt transfer Xavier Johnson to take some pressure off. They get their first true test of the season tonight against St. John's and Mike Anderson's teams love to play at one of the quickest tempos of any team in the country, creating more fantasy scoring opportunities for Jackson-Davis in the highest over/under on the DFS slate tonight.
Jalen Cook, G, Tulane ($7,400 DK, $8,200 FD)
Cook transferred over to Tulane after a freshman season at LSU where he saw minimal playing time on a stacked Tigers squad that had both their starting guards leave for the NBA. He now steps into a workhorse role for the Green Wave, who were anemic offensively last season and in need of a go-to player. Through two games thus far, Cook has accounted for a massive 34.6 percent usage rate and has shown to be an efficient long-range shooter -- connecting on 13-of-28 (46 percent) attempts from three in his career.
Middle Tier
Jordan Wright, G/F, Vanderbilt ($6,700 DK)
Wright saw an uptick in minutes at the end of last season after a season-ending injury to Dylan Disu, averaging 29.9 minutes per game over the final seven games. To start the season, he's been quite active in the offense and looks much improved, posting back-to-back 16-point games on 55 percent shooting. Should be a potential for a double-double against a VCU squad that's only shooting 41 percent on the season.
Dereon Seabron, G/F, N.C. State ($6,200 DK, $8,100 FD)
Seabron's $1,900 discount on DraftKings compared to FanDuel makes him a must-play in cash game contests and a risky fade in GPPs. He's started off the season strong with a pair of double-doubles and a career-high 24-point performance last night. Even against the Wolfpack's toughest test of the season in Oklahoma State tonight, Seabron would have to have an incredibly inefficient shooting performance to not live up to his salary expectation.
Values
Ejike Obinna, F, Saint Joseph's ($5,400 DK)
Obinna has flashed early for Saint Joe's as a graduate transfer from Vanderbilt, reaching double figures in both games to start the season while posting 15 rebounds last time out in only 19 minutes. He's accounting for 30.7 percent of the team's shots when he's on the floor and gets a nice matchup against a Drexel team that ranks 257th in KenPom's defensive efficiency metrics.
Marcus Bingham, F, Michigan St. ($4,600 DK, $5,900 FD)
Michigan State has opted to go with a bigger lineup to open the season and insert Bingham into a starting role. The 7-foot center has responded with two 25-point fantasy games to start the season, contributing across the stat-sheet as an effective rebounder and shot-blocker. He's not much of a threat to see more than 20 minutes, but with a career 1.05 fantasy point per minute line, Bingham sure makes the most of his time on the floor.
