Porzingis Shines As Celtics Top Knicks
The Boston Celtics defeated the New York Knicks, 108-104, at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.

The Celtics (1-0) enjoyed a solid start to their 2023-24 season and secured a tight win over the Knicks (0-1). Boston jumped to a dominant 30-18 score in the first quarter and looked in complete control in the early going. However, the Knicks showed signs of life in the second quarter and outscored Boston 28-21, shrinking the Celtics' lead to just five points. The Celtics responded in the second half and restored their lead after a 31-27 score in the third quarter. The Knicks won the final 12 minutes by a 31-26 score, and while New York carried the momentum, a late three-pointer from Kristaps Porzingis lifted the Celtics to victory.

Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 34 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Kristaps Porzingis finished with 30 points and eight rebounds outside of his game-clinching three-pointer. Derrick White posted 12 points, six rebounds and two assists, and Jaylen Brown underperformed after putting up just 11 points, six boards and five assists. Jrue Holiday had nine points in his debut as a Celtics player.

RJ Barrett was the best player for the Knicks after putting up 24 points, three rebounds and two assists. Julius Randle finished with a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double, and he also added seven assists. Jalen Brunson registered 15 points, but he also added six assists and three boards. Quentin Grimes ended with 11 points, and Immanuel Quickley delivered 24 points, six boards and four dimes coming off the bench.
