The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Dallas Mavericks in overtime,132-130, at State Farm Arena on Sunday evening.

Both clubs came into the contest looking to firm up their individual postseason picture, and the Hawks (39-39) had the hotter hand early while jumping out to a 37-29 lead through one. The Mavericks (37-42) had sliced their eight-point deficit in half by intermission and had whittled it to three going into the final period, and Dallas ultimately forced overtime when JaVale McGee sunk the second of two free-throw attempts with a tenth of a second remaining in regulation. The extra period was also hotly contested, with Atlanta escaping after Trae Young drained two late free throws and Luka Doncic's desperation three-point attempt from the corner at the buzzer just missed finding the net.

Kyrie Irving led the Mavericks with 41 points, supplementing them with five rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block. Doncic managed 22 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and one block. Christian Wood generated an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double that included three assists and one block. Josh Green supplied 13 points, five boards, four assists and one steal. McGee registered 11 points, six rebounds and one assist.

Dejounte Murray paced the Hawks with 25 points, complementing them with seven rebounds, four assists and one steal. Young finished with a 24-point, 12-assist double-double that included three rebounds and one steal. John Collins generated an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double that included one assist and two steals. Bogdan Bogdanovic contributed 16 points, while Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu furnished matching 14-point efforts while pulling down 11 and five rebounds, respectively. Saddiq Bey delivered 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Mavericks return home to host the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night, while the Hawks hit the road and face the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.
