2024 Fantasy Outlook
Grichuk missed a few weeks in April but otherwise hit well in 64 games for the Rockies last season with a .308/.365/.496 slash line, but he struggled to a .676 OPS in 54 contests after being shipped to the Angels. His strikeout and walk rates were both slightly better than his career figures, and overall he rebounded with his best wRC+ (100) since 2020. He had a .694 OPS against right-handed pitchers compared to a .995 OPS versus lefties, and after signing with the Diamondbacks in February, Grichuk appears headed for a short-side platoon role. However, his recovery from January surgery to remove bone spurs from his right ankle could delay his start to the season. Read Past Outlooks

He continues to fill a short-side platoon role in the outfield.

Grichuk was traded from Toronto to Colorado after the end of the lockout in March, but he didn't take advantage of having half his games at Coors Field as he finished 2022 with an 88 wRC+. He appeared in 141 games during his first year with the Rockies but failed to provide much value at the plate or in the field. Grichuk, who will turn 32 years old in August, is entering his final year under contract and is in dire need of a rebound in 2023 after back-to-back down seasons. Grichuk should open spring training with a good chance to retain a starting job, but if his struggles continue it wouldn't be surprising to see the Rockies turn to one of their younger outfield options.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Target for Phillies?
Philadelphia could look to acquire Grichuk ahead of the July 30 trade deadline if the club elects to pursue a rental option, per Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
ANALYSIS
The 32-year-old signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Diamondbacks in February that includes a $6 million mutual option for 2025, so he's a candidate to be traded even if Arizona doesn't consider itself a seller. Grichuk has seen most of his playing time this season against left-handed pitching, though his splits have been fairly even with a .766 OPS versus righties and a .774 OPS against lefties. His role likely wouldn't change much if sent to Philadelphia, as he fits in best there as the right-handed hitting complement to Brandon Marsh in a left-field platoon.
