2024 Fantasy Outlook
Yastrzemski posted a career-low .697 OPS in 2022, and he rebounded last season with a .233/.330/.445 slash line in 106 games as he had two stints on the injured list with hamstring issues. The veteran outfielder had a 12 percent walk rate and totaled 15 homers, 43 RBI and 54 runs in 2023, which are relative improvements on figures from the previous year (17, 57 and 73, respectively) given he played in 42 fewer games. The lefty-hitting Yastrzemski had severe splits with a 126 wRC+ versus right-handed pitching and a 62 wRC+ against lefties, so a strong-side platoon role likely awaits in 2024. His fantasy ceiling will be capped in that role given the more limited plate appearances, though he can still provide some value as long as you can stomach his .223 average over the past three years. ANALYSIS
After recording two hits in five at-bats during Friday's series opener, Yastrzemski will take a seat for San Francisco's penultimate game of the season. While he rests, Mark Canha, Grant McCray and Heliot Ramos will start across the outfield.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
2021
2020
Yastrzemski came on to the league as an older prospect who joined in on the bouncy baseball fun of 2019, but then backed it up with an even better pandemic season in 2020 before coming back to earth each of the past two seasons. San Francisco believes there is at least another season there as they gave him a one-year deal to avoid arbitration rather than non-tender him so he will stay in the bay area to play the strong side of a platoon situation with whatever righty bat the club plugs into play to face lefties. Yaz is rather accepting of his walks and has excellent plate discipline built around some swing and miss as he has struggled with breaking balls each of the past two seasons. His numbers could improve if he could rediscover some of his earlier success against non-fastballs, but the past two seasons have left us wondering if that will ever happen again for him.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Hopes to stay in San Francisco
Yastrzemski wants to remain with the Giants and would be willing to serve as a fourth outfielder and/or sign a two-year contract with a lower average annual value, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
ANALYSIS
The 34-year-old made $7.9 million this season and is due for a raise in his final year of arbitration eligibility, but a two-year contract could provide him with more money overall while giving the Giants some flexibility with a lower salary. Yastrzemski had a .231/.302/.437 slash line with 18 homers in 140 games during 2024, but San Francisco could be looking to get a bit younger with its position players. The veteran outfielder's willingness to take less money and a lesser role should give him a decent chance of remaining with the Giants for a seventh season.
