2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mangum has been toiling in the minor leagues since 2019, but he's yet to experience The Show. He's spent the last three seasons at Triple-A, playing for three different organizations. The Rays acquired him from the Marlins, and after he produced a .317/.357/.442 line with 20 steals for the Durham Bulls, the club game him a spot on their 40-man roster, shielding him from the Rule 5 draft. Mangum can play all three outfield positions, which could help him make his debut this season as a 29-year-old. His asset is putting the bat on the ball, but since he's been older than most at his level for several seasons, it's unclear how well his contact skills may translate. The fact Tampa Bay thinks enough of Mangum to protect him is sufficient enough to put him on your radar, but not enough to draft him, save for the deepest of leagues. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Along with Kameron Misner and Chandler Simpson, Mangum was one of three players vying for a backup outfield role that was sent to the minors Wednesday. The 29-year-old Mangum is still waiting to make his MLB debut, but the Rays thought highly enough of him to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft and add him to the 40-man roster this winter after he slashed .317/.357/.442 with six home runs and 20 stolen bases over 428 plate appearances for Durham last season.

Eligible for Rule 5 Draft
OFNew York Mets  AAA
November 16, 2022
The Mets did not add Mangum to their 40-man roster and he will be eligible for December's Rule 5 Draft, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old Mangum has yet to make his big-league debut and has only played 33 games at the Triple-A level in his career. While he's best known for his defensive capabilities, he did produce a solid .306/.363/.441 slash line with 14 stolen bases in 72 minor-league games in 2022. Any team that would select the outfielder in the Rule 5 Draft would need to keep him on the big-league roster all season or risk having to return him to the Mets.
