Let me just get this out of the way: yes, I should have compiled this list earlier in the offseason. It's something that Chris Welsh and I have kicked around for over a year, but I hadn't really come up with an ideal way to execute it or taken the time to put it together until recently.
I reached out to the internet's top prospect rankers for dynasty leagues and asked if I could use their top-100 lists to put together a composite list, averaging out everyone's top 100 to produce the "consensus" top-100 prospects. I think my top 400 is the best prospect list in the industry (I'm sure all the other rankers would say the same about their lists). Some of you may agree, some may disagree, but either way, the benefits of having an industry consensus top 100 are obvious.
We don't really have an equivalent to ADP for prospects, but hopefully this is a close substitute. You can now confidently say, "Player X was a consensus top-100 prospect before the season". It should also be helpful when trying to put together trade offers in dynasty leagues. If you love a specific set of prospect rankings, but don't want to get caught overpaying for a guy or not asking for enough in return for someone, then this should be a useful resource.
This is a free article because I want everyone to be able to see it, especially since these other experts were kind enough to provide their product as part of this resource.
Every player who fell outside the top 100 on any given list was treated the same, since not everyone's rankings go past 100 prospects, and factoring in a ranking outside the top 100 would skew the rankings toward those lists that go more than 100 players deep. It's also worth noting that some of these lists are more up to date than others. Hopefully if this is a success, I can get this list out sooner next offseason, which will make it a more even playing field in terms of the information that was available when each list was finalized.
