Ruiz excelled in a backup role, finding the net through a right-footed strike in stoppage time against Tigres. After missing the Liga MX versus MLS All-Star Game due to a knock, Ruiz had his playing time managed in his return to league action, though he's usually a near-guaranteed starter in midfield.
