Lorenz Assignon

Assignon will miss Saturday's season opener against Union Berlin due to a suspension for yellow card accumulation carried over from his time at Rennes before joining the club in the summer, coach Sebastian Hoeness said in the press conference.

Assignon has signed a contract until 2029 with Stuttgart, joining from Rennes on a permanent move, his new club announced. "With his footballing skills and dynamism Lorenz fits our playing philosophy very well. He has demonstrated his qualities in Ligue 1 and the Premier League over the past few years and gained valuable experience. Lorenz has already reached a very high level in his game and at the same time we are convinced that he will take further steps in his development with us. We look forward to our time together and warmly welcome Lorenz to VfB," Stuttgart sporting director Christian Gentner said.

Assignon featured in 32 Ligue 1 matches for Rennes during the 2024-25 season, scoring three goals and providing four assists.

Assignon scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Sunday's 5-1 win against Le Havre. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 41st minute.

Assignon scored one goal and assisted once from one shot and one chance created in Sunday's 4-0 win over Montpellier.
