Frees has signed a contract extension with TSG Hoffenheim, the club announced. "Kelven has been at TSG since 2023 and has made remarkable progress since then. A top player, he played a key role in the U19s' double in 2024 and contributed to our U23s' promotion to the 3. Liga last season. Since the start of pre-season, the central defender has been training with the first team and completed the training camp with the Bundesliga team in Seefeld. Kelven was able to gain valuable experience and has made the most of this opportunity. We are delighted to have signed another player from the youth system for a long-term career. We see great potential in Kelven and want to gradually integrate him into the first team and, consequently, the Bundesliga," said Andreas Schicker, Sporting Director at TSG Hoffenheim.

ANALYSIS
Frees joined TSG's academy from Fortuna Dusseldorf U19 in July 2023 and captained the U19s to a league and cup double. In 2024/25, he moved up to the U23 team, scored three goals and added one assist in 12 Regionalliga matches, helping the team earn promotion to the 3. Liga. He started the first two matches of the new third-division season, scoring in a 4-2 win at Alemannia Aachen, and also made two appearances for Germany's U19 team. Frees will now join the senior squad of Hoffenheim with the aim of earning playing time in the Bundesliga to gain further experience and continue his progression.
