Gudmundsson joins Leeds United as a replacement for the outgoing Junior Firpo, who was the main starter throughout their Championship run. Gudmundsson made 30 appearances for Lille last season, mostly as a full-back, creating 16 chances and taking 18 shots. The defender isn't likely to become a more productive option in the Premier League, but he does have a path to significant playing time if he can win the left-back job over Sam Byram. Despite the potential for minutes, there doesn't seem like a ton of offensive upside for Gudmundsson, even if Leeds play a more attacking system than Lille did.

                  Injury minor, option Saturday
Gudmundsson (undisclosed) is an option for Saturday's match against Brighton, according to manager Daniel Farke. "Thankfully, it was just a bruise, nothing major. He'll be back to full fitness and available. He's been excellent so far, credit to his character, he always comes back stronger and delivers top performances."
                  ANALYSIS
Gudmundsson was thought to have only suffered a bruise last week against West Ham, and that has come to fruition, with the defender deemed fit ahead of Saturday's contest. This is massive news for the club, as he is their starting left-back. The defender should return to that spot immediately, having yet to miss a start all season.
