Mendez struggled to get going last season and a broken foot late in the campaign only made matters worse. In addition to having fewer set pieces, he played a little deeper than prior seasons which led to just three goals and two assists. It was his worst La Liga return since 2019/20 with Celta Vigo. There are plenty of changes going on at Sociedad from manager to the players on the pitch, but there's reason to believe Mendez can have a bit of a bounceback. He may not score close to 10 goals, but if on the pitch, there's no question at least 10 goal contributions are still in play.
Struggles in second half of season
Mendez started in 19 of his 27 appearances while recording three goals on 28 shots and two assists on 23 chances created in La Liga.

He is a veteran in a relatively young midfield and remains on contract for a few more seasons, needing to get back to his old form if he wants to maintain his regular spot, as numerous players are bidding for time in the middle of the pitch.
