Stepanov has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2027,
the club announced. Bayer 04 Managing Director of Sport Simon Rolfes praised the young forward's development, stating, "
Artem Stepanov has developed excellently with us in Leverkusen, both athletically and in terms of football. Artem has matured and gained a lot of self-confidence. He showed this in his appearances in the U19 Youth League and also in the UEFA Youth League. He can and should continue on this path." Kim Falkenberg, Head of Recruitment, added, "We are very much looking forward to the time ahead with him."
ANALYSIS
Stepanov has made multiple appearances with the professional squad this season, including a Champions League appearance against Salzburg. In the U19 DFB Youth League, he scored 10 goals and provided one assist in 11 games. In four matches in the UEFA Youth League, he scored one goal and registered two assists. The young forward is expected to continue his development with the youth teams while gradually earning more minutes with the senior squad to gain experience.
