Wharton went from the Championship to the Premier League in February 2024 and has already established himself as one of the best in the country at 21 years old. The midfielder doesn't have a lot of offensive upside in this Palace system, but when fit he's a constant in the starting XI, cycling possession and occasionally taking set pieces. Wharton struggled with a hip injury throughout last season, but he got a surgery to hopefully correct the issue permanently. If he can put together a fully healthy season, Wharton would be in line for regular starts with more appearances on the scoresheet a likelihood after compiling 13 shots and 26 chances in 20 appearances (16 starts) last season.

Sidelined to face Sunderland
Wharton (groin) will be sidelined for Saturday's match against Sunderland but is expected to return later this month, manager Oliver Glasner told media during his pre-match press conference Friday.
