Winning streak snapped at six
Jackson lost to Deiveson Figueiredo via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
This fight wasn't as close as the "split decision" label would lead you to believe. Jackson accomplished shockingly little as a -330 favorite. Viewed as a low-volume striker, Montel was always going to find himself in trouble if he found himself down on the scorecards early on. He simply isn't active enough to make up for a slow start. Toss in the fact Figueiredo landed a couple takedowns, and it's easy to see how Jackson came up short. Jackson's power is legit, and at 5-foot-10, he has an elite frame for the bantamweight division, but this felt like a must-win considering how heavy a favorite he was. Montel sees his winning streak snapped at six.

Taking on Figueiredo
Jackson will face Deiveson Figueiredo in a bantam weight bout at UFC Rio on October 11, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Jackson has won six straight bouts, most recently taking care of business against Daniel Marcos, besting him via unanimous decision back in May. That pushed his UFC record to an excellent 9-2, and he'll go for win number 10 against an opponent in Figueiredo who will be desperate for a win coming off two straight losses.

ANALYSIS
When we last saw Jackson last July, he was knocking out Da'Mon Blackshear in a mere 18 seconds. The was a different type of fight entirely, but he still emerged victorious. Neither man did much on the feet, but Montel certainly landed the more damaging blows. Both men also got their wrestling game going, with Jackson landing two takedowns and Marcos three. The different in the fight was Marcos' inactivity at times. Jackson would be an easy top-15 bantamweight if he simply fought more often. He's undefeated in his last six fights, but has competed just once a year from 2022-2025. That's not good enough for a 33-year-old.

ANALYSIS
Easy work. Jackson took the center of the Octagon, connected with a quick jab to Blackshear's chest, and then obliterated him with a shot to the face. It happened so quickly that if you blinked, you would have missed it. To nobody's surprise, Jackson would go on to earn a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts here. Montel's striking is exceptional. He's super fast and very powerful. A winner of five in a row, the lone problem for Jackson at this point is that he's struggling to get matchups with notable opponents. For his part, Jackson says he wants to fight more frequently. It's a necessity if the 32-year-old hopes to continue to climb the rankings in the loaded bantamweight division.
