Quick turnaround in Mexico
Costa will take on Christian Rodriguez in a featherweight matchup at UFC Mexico on March 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Costa has won three of his last four, most recently submitting Andre Fili in the first round in February, which opened the door for this quick turnaround. He now takes on Rodriguez, who has won five of his last six, most recently taking a decision from a highly-regarded prospect in Austin Bashi this past January. Costa has the slight edge in offensive and defensive striking marks, while Rodriguez is a higher-volume wrestler with superior takedown defense as well.

Second straight submission win
Costa defeated Andre Fili via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:30 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Costa had a 27-7 lead in terms of significant strikes landed at the time of the stoppage, but the bout felt a whole lot closer than that. He and Fili fought to even terms, at which point Fili landed an easy takedown and left his neck exposed in the process. Costa wasted zero time in clamping on the guillotine choke which closed the show. The Brazilian has victories in three of his last four fights, including back-to-back submission wins on his resume. The lone loss during that stretch came against a quality opponent in Steve Garcia.

Fighting Fili at UFC Seattle
Costa will fight Andre Fili at UFC Seattle on Feb. 22, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Costa fought just once in 2024, emerging victorious over Shayilan Nuerdanbieke in June. Costa now sits at 2-2 in the UFC but will be tasked with taking down a far more experienced fighter in Fili, who also owns a three-inch reach advantage over the 28-year-old.

Finds submission win in Round 3
Costa defeated Shayilan Nuerdanbieke via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:50 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off a loss to Steve Garcia as a massive favorite last December, Costa got back in the win column here, but it didn't come easy. He struggled with the grappling of Nuerdanbieke the entire fight. Costa accomplished shockingly little for the duration of the bout until his opponent began to gas out late in Round 2. The Brazilian was eventually able to drag Shayilan to the mat early in the final frame before choking him out. Costa has some ability, but he's very inconsistent, even on a round-by-round basis. He's alternated wins and losses in his first four UFC bouts.

Will fight Nuerdanbieke in Vegas
Costa is scheduled to fight Shayilan Nuerdanbieke at featherweight for UFC Vegas 93 on Jun. 15, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Costa will get a shot at redemption after getting knocked out against Steve Garcia in UFC Fight Night back in December. The Brazilian featherweight, who sports a record of 20-7, will take on Nuerdanbieke who has not seen the mat since April of 2023 where he also lost to Garcia via KO.
