The Future

Ireland
Next bout booked
Garry will face Belal Muhammad in a welterweight bout at UFC Qatar on Nov. 2, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Garry lost his first UFC bout last December, but recently bounced back in April with a win over Carlos Prates via unanimous decision. Sitting at 9-1, he'll look for win number 10 against an opponent 10 years older in Muhammad, who is coming off a loss that snapped a six-fight winning streak.

Survives late rally for huge win
Garry defeated Carlos Prates via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off his first career defeat to Shavkat Rakhmonov in December, Garry put forth a quality performance here, at least until the dying minutes. He was in firm control for 20 minutes, easily getting the better of Prates on the feet and constantly trying to get to his wrestling game, even if he didn't have much success there. He was cruising to the decision win until everything change in Round 5. Garry clearly tired, and that allowed Prates to nearly pull off a huge comeback. Ian found himself in a prone position on the mat and probably would have been finished if Carlos kept firing off shots, but he didn't, for one reason or another. The clock ran out, and Garry took a decision. Garry catches a lot of flack, some of it his own doing, but he's a high-end fighter, particularly defensively, and he should remain in the title picture for the foreseeable future given he won't be 28 years old until November.

Will take on Carlos Prates
Garry will face Carlos Prates in a welterweight bout at UFC Kansas City on April 26.
ANALYSIS
Garry is coming off the first defeat of his career when he lost to Shavkat Rakhmonov via unanimous decision on Dec. 7, but he'll look to bounce back in this new main event at the end of April. Garry owns an 8-1 record at the UFC level, and he'll look to put the defeat he suffered at the end of 2024 in the past with a convincing performance in the octagon.

Suffers first career defeat
Garry lost to Shavkat Rakhmonov via unanimous decision (47-48, 47-48, 47-48) at UFC 310 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Rakhmonov had finished each of his first 18 opponents. The fact Garry was able to go the distance and take two rounds off him is no small feat. Garry's main issue was that it took him 10 minutes to get going. He landed nothing of note over the course of the first two rounds, and it ended up costing him the fight. Ian did get progressively better as the bout progressed and nearly submitted Rakhmonov in Round 5 with a rear-naked choke. Ultimately, however, there just weren't enough big moments to swing the decision in Garry's direction. Garry gets a lot of flack, but he's clearly an elite fighter. He just went five, hard-fought rounds against the guy most would considering to be, at a minimum, the second-best welterweight on the planet.
