It was as crazy of a fight as you will ever see for the 65 seconds it lasted. Amil ate one huge punch moments after the opening bell rang which appeared to have woke him up. After that, he floored the gas pedal and connected with dozens of blows that Lee somehow managed to eat. Yet, with the pressure mounting along the fence, referee Mark Smith finally pulled the plug. Amil is clearly most comfortable in a brawl, and it remains to be seen how he will fare in a more technical fight against a bit better competition. We should get our answer soon enough. In the meantime, he'll walk away with one of four $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded on the evening.

Amil won his fight on Dana White's Contender Series last August via unanimous decision, but he racked up a bunch of stoppage wins on the regional scene, and his damaging blows were on full display against Garcia. Amil was going up against an opponent in Fernie that is now 0-4 with the UFC, so the win means little in the long run, but it was nice to see Hyder get off to a solid start with the company. He should be tasked with a stiffer challenge his next time out.
