Cruises in flyweight debut

November 16, 2024
Moura defeated Veronica Hardy via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 309 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
Moura was forced to move up to flyweight after missing weight for her previous two strawweight bouts. Oddly enough, she dominated Hardy thanks to her size and strength advantage. Moura mixed in a few notable blows here and there, but it was mainly her three takedowns for 4:13 worth of control time which won her the fight. She limited Hardy's space for 10 minutes then coasted in Round 3 when it was clear she would be winning a decision. How effective Moura will be at flyweight over the long term remains to be seen, but it's clear she should have been fighting at 125 pounds all along.

Set to take on Hardy
FlyweightUFC
August 31, 2024
Moura will face Veronica Hardy in a flyweight bout at UFC 309 on Nov. 16 in New York, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hardy has been on a tear of late with three consecutive wins, and Moura faces a tough challenge to bounce back here. Plus, she has missed weight in her last two bouts, so there's no question she's been trending in the wrong direction of late. Moura has gone 0-2 at the UFC level.
Drops decision after weight miss
FlyweightUFC
June 8, 2024
Moura lost to Denise Gomes via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
ANALYSIS
It's been a disastrous past 36 hours for Moura. She missed weight by half a pound Friday morning and had to forfeit 20 percent of her purse for Gomes in order for the fight to proceed. When the bell finally rang, Moura was nearly choked out immediately before quickly gassing. Outside of a few token takedowns that did no real damage, Moura generated zero offense of her own. The 30-year-old Brazilian has now missed weight for each of her two UFC bouts. It's nearly impossible to believe the company will schedule her for a strawweight fight for her next time out.
Misses weight

June 7, 2024
Moura missed weight for her scheduled fight against Denise Gomes, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
As a result of Moura's weight miss, she was fined 20 percent of her fight purse, giving Gomes a slight weight disadvantage going into UFC Louisville. This is Moura's second consecutive weight miss, but the first did not prevent her from defeating Montserrat Ruiz in November.

Dominates after weight miss
FlyweightUFC
November 4, 2023
Moura defeated Montserrat Ruiz via TKO (punches) at 2:14 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
It was about as dominant a performance as you will ever see in a fight which lasted seven-plus minutes. Moura closed with a 102-9 edge in total strikes landed. That is not a misprint. That's the good news for Moura. The bad news is that much of the good work she did inside the octagon was negated by the fact she missed weight by 3.5 pounds on Friday morning. She had to forfeit 30 percent of her purse to Ruiz in order for the fight to proceed. Moura is obviously worth keep an eye on moving forward, but it's imperative she get her weight cutting issues under control before her next bout.
