Fighting Santos in September

Choi will fight Daniel Santos at UFC Perth on Sept. 27, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Choi finally has booked his first fight since December of 2024, where he upset Nate Landwehr in a Round 3 TKO. The South Korean featherweight hasn't lost a UFC match since 2019, and he currently sports a 16-4-1 professional record. He should be met with a solid challenge against Santos, who is 3-1 in the UFC and is on a three-match win streak.
Flawless effort in upset win

Choi defeated Nate Landwehr via TKO (strikes) at 3:21 of Round 3 at UFC 310 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a flawless effort from Choi, who dominated in every aspect of the fight. He dismantled Landwehr on the feet in the early going, particularly to the body. In perhaps a completely unexpected development, Choi landed four takedowns. For comparison's sake, he had landed three in total in his first eight UFC bouts. It's difficult to say Choi is improving at age 33, but he's missed so much time over the years that it's not out of the realm of possibility he is starting to get comfortable once again in the Octagon. He should try to return to action as quickly as possible given how little damage he absorbed on this evening.
Facing Landwehr in December

Choi will face Nate Landwehr in a featherweight bout at UFC 310 in Las Vegas on December 7, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Choi will fight the older Landwehr in December coming off a second-round TKO victory over Bill Algeo in his most recent UFC appearance in July. The 33-year-old Korean holds a respectable 4-3-1 UFC record, though July's victory was his first since 2016. Choi will look to use his considerable stopping power (12 of 15 professional victories via KO/TKO) to take down Landwehr, though the older American boasts an impressive 9-2 record in KO/TKO stoppages, indicating that Choi needs to keep his guard up in this one.
First win since July 2016

Choi defeated Bill Algeo via TKO (punches) at 3:38 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
To say this win is a long time coming for Choi would be the understatement of the century. Due to his mandatory military commitment in his native South Korea, Choi had fought just four times since December 2016, without a win during that span (0-3, 1NC). He entered here as a +170 underdog against Algeo and was sharp from the very start. Choi took advantage of Algeo's aggressiveness early on and clamped on multiple deep submission attempts. None of them earned the stoppage, but it served to tire out his opponent. With the fight up for grabs in Round 2, Choi landed two big shots to Algeo's right eye, the second of which put him away. Now 33 years of age, hopefully Choi can compete a bit more frequently in the next couple years.
To return against Algeo

Choi will take on Bill Algeo in a featherweight matchup at UFC Vegas 94 on July 20, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
It has been a long stretch on the sidelines for Choi, who hasn't competed since fighting Kyle Nelson to a draw in February of 2023, which snapped a three-fight losing streak. Nelson happens to be the most recent opponent of Algeo as well, but Nelson picked up a first-round finish in that fight. On paper, Choi concedes height and reach numbers to Algeo, in addition to marks in striking volume and striking defense.
