Quickly fades in UFC debut
MiddleweightUFC

Santos lost to Ozzy Diaz via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 313 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Making his official UFC debut following a win on Dana White's Contender Series last September, Santos started quickly before fading. Both men landed a ton of volume -- Santos was credited with 131 significant strikes -- in what was a back-and-forth boxing match, but there's zero doubt who deserved the decision, and it wasn't the Brazilian. Santos will get another shot with the company, but his margin for error will be exceedingly small moving forward.

Santos will fight Ozzy Diaz at UFC 313 on March 8, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Defeating Will Currie in a Contender Series fight earned Santos a UFC contract back in September, and the 27-year-old is now set to make his first appearance in the promotion against an opponent who is coming off a loss during his own debut. Santos hasn't lost a fight since 2019, though he will not have size on his side in March.
Second underdog to snatch contract

Santos defeated Will Currie via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to earn an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Santos didn't get much from his opponent here, who often times simply wouldn't engage, limiting himself to leg kicks and defensive tie-up attempts when the two fighters were standing. When it was all said and done, Santos doubled the significant strike total of his opponent (85 to 41), logged one takedown and recorded slightly more control time. In the end, the 27-year-old Brazilian was able to do just enough to impress Dana White, sweeping the scorecards and ultimately earning his chance in the UFC's middleweight division.
