25-Year-Old GoalieG
Carolina Hurricanes
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Kochetkov played excellent hockey in 2023-24. He saw action in 42 games, delivering a 23-13-4 record, 2.33 GAA and .911 save percentage. He even started Game 3 of the Canes' first-round series against the Rangers instead of Frederik Andersen. Kochetkov's 23 wins set a team record for wins by a rookie, and his strong play earned him a nod on the 2023-24 NHL All-Rookie Team. So, what will 2024-25 hold? Starter Frederik Andersen is 34 and has played just one full season in his last four and he's seen action in only 50 of the Canes' possible 162 over the last two years. He's an injury waiting to happen, and Kochetkov's star is on the rise. Thirty wins are within reach and so is a career year. Read Past Outlooks

Kochetkov allowed six goals on 28 shots in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 3.
ANALYSIS
Kochetkov played the third period in Game 2 and got the start in Game 3, but he hasn't fared any better than Frederik Andersen in the Eastern Conference Finals. The 25-year-old Kochetkov has allowed 12 goals on 83 shots over four playoff appearances, going 1-1. The Hurricanes haven't revealed who will be tasked with the start in a must-win Game 4 on Monday.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Kochetkov started the 2022-23 campaign in the minors, but injuries led to him appearing in 24 contests for Carolina, during which he posted a 12-7-5 record, 2.44 GAA and .909 save percentage. That was enough to convince the Hurricanes to lock him down to a four-year, $8 million contract, which could prove to be a bit of a steal if the 24-year-old goaltender's recent work is any indication. In the short term, though, Kochetkov's role with the team is unclear, given that Carolina still has two great veteran options in Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta. It seems all three netminders will start the 2023-24 campaign on the NHL roster with Andersen penciled in as the likely starter, while Raanta and Kochetkov will compete for the No. 2 spot. Unless injuries are once again a factor, Kochetkov might finish the campaign with around 20 starts.
