Finds new team in free agency
Kurashev signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Sharks on Tuesday, according to PuckPedia.
ANALYSIS
Kurashev accounted for seven goals, 14 points and a minus-28 rating with Chicago in 2024-25. The Sharks arguably have more talent than the Blackhawks, looking ahead to 2025-26, so Kurashev's production could increase, but his plus-minus rating may not improve much, if any. The 25-year-old should be able to work his way into a middle-six role with his new club this coming season.

Kurashev was solid while season top-six usage in his fourth NHL season in 2023-24, picking up 18 goals, 36 assists, 19 power-play points and 128 shots on net while averaging 19:01 of ice time through 75 regular-season contests with Chicago. He should continue to see top-six minutes and healthy power-play usage in 2024-25, and with the Blackhawks seemingly making an effort this offseason to improve the talent surrounding Connor Bedard up front, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team score more goals in 2024-25 - Chicago finished last season with a league-worst 179 goals for. That should lead to more opportunities for Kurashev to write his name on the scoresheet next campaign, potentially giving him a chance to surpass the 20-goal and 60-point marks for the first time in his career next year.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Unlikely to play Tuesday
Kurashev will likely be a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Canucks, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Kurashev hasn't been very productive early in the season, tallying a goal and a minus-6 rating while averaging 15:54 of ice time over six appearances. Head coach Luke Richardson wasn't very impressed with Kurashev's effort during Saturday's loss to Buffalo, so the 25-year-old will likely be held out for at least one game. Assuming Kurashev doesn't play, Lukas Reichel could see some additional work.
