2025 Fantasy Outlook
Wood has a new home in Columbus after being acquired from Colorado in June. The speedy winger was restricted to just 37 regular-season contests in 2024-25 due to injuries - he logged four goals, eight points, 60 shots on goal, 48 hits and a minus-5 rating. Wood's 11:21 of average ice time in his final campaign with the Avs was a career low, which raises concern for his prospects going forward, especially since he's dealt with numerous injuries throughout his 10-year career. Heading into his age-30 campaign, Wood should be a fourth-line staple among his new club, with 20-30 points in the range of outcomes if he can stay relatively healthy. Read Past Outlooks
Under the weather
Wood won't play in Edmonton on Monday due to an illness, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.
ANALYSIS
Wood and Cole Sillinger (illness) are both under the weather, so Zach Aston-Reese and Isac Lundestrom will draw into Monday's lineup. Columbus will play in the second half of a back-to-back in Seattle on Tuesday, so Wood should be considered questionable for that contest, at best.

Wood is the type of role player teams happily employ to add some grit and a little skill to their bottom six. His six-year, $15 million contract with Colorado that was signed in the summer of 2023 is evidence of the value placed on his services. From a fantasy perspective, though, you'd need to be in a particularly deep league to justify having him on your roster. Wood had nine goals, 26 points, 75 PIM and 107 hits in 74 regular-season games with the Avalanche in 2023-24. That was a fairly typical campaign for him and what you should roughly expect from him this season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be dealt
Wood, who has been out of action with an upper-body injury since Nov. 29, could be traded before he returns to the lineup, Meghan Angley of Guerilla Sports said Thursday on Mile High Hockey Lab.
ANALYSIS
Wood still has four-plus seasons remaining on a six-year, $15 million contract. He is likely overpriced to be the Avalanche's fourth-line center, and Colorado could gauge trade interest from around the league before his return. He has two goals and an assist over 16 appearances this season.
