2025 Fantasy Outlook
Mateychuk turned pro in 2024-25, supplying nine goals and 25 points across 27 regular-season outings with AHL Cleveland as well as four goals, 13 points, 20 PIM, 44 shots, 26 hits and 63 blocks in 45 appearances with the Blue Jackets. Taken with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the 21-year-old has tremendous offensive upside, so he's worth keeping a close eye on during training camp. If he secures a regular role on Columbus' power play for the 2025-26 campaign, then a 30-plus point showing is obtainable. However, Zach Werenski is a lock to be the blueliner on the top power-play unit, and defenseman Ivan Provorov will likely find himself as part of the second group, so Mateychuk will have to fight to earn and maintain a role on special teams. Deposits goal in win
Mateychuk scored a goal and blocked three shots in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Oilers.
ANALYSIS
Mateychuk fired back after the Oilers tied the game at 2-2 in the middle of the second period, answering a Leon Draisaitl goal just 30 seconds later. Mateychuk has four points over his last six games and has looked decent in a top-four role for the bulk of this season. He's at four goals, seven points, 17 shots on net, 13 hits, 30 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 16 appearances. He won't score goals at this pace all year, but he should have no trouble surpassing his 13-point output from 45 games as a rookie last year.
