NHL Betting Predictions for October 15 Doubleheader
Florida Panthers at Detroit Red Wings
The Panthers (3-1-0) and Red Wings (2-1-0) meet at Little Caesars Arena at 7 p.m. ET.
The two-time defending champs won the first three games, all at home, outscoring the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators by an 11-5 margin. However, in Florida's first road game, a rematch with the Flyers, the Panthers were trucked 5-2 in the City of Brotherly Love as moderate favorites (-140) as the Over (6) cashed.
To be fair, Monday's 5-2 loss was the first start by Daniil Tarasov, a former Flyers goaltender, who stopped 17 of 20 shots. Sergei Bobrovsky, who is 3-0-0 with a 1.67 goals-against average (GAA) and .925 save percentage across his first three starts, is back between the pipes in Detroit.
Detroit lost its opener 5-1 to Montreal last Thursday, while rebounding with a home-and-home sweep against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Red Wings outscored the Leafs 9-5, winning two games as underdogs to cash at a combined +278 while splitting the Over-Under in those two games. The total is 1-1-1 in three games so far.
Looking to the series trends, the favorite went 2-1 in three meetings last season, while the favorite is 8-2 in the previous 10 meetings since Dec. 8, 2022, while the Under is 6-1 in the past seven in the series, and 8-2 across the past 10 installments.
Cam Talbot is 2-0-0 with a 2.11 GAA and .925 save percentage in his two starts, both wins over the defending Atlantic Division champion Leafs. However, we're going to back the Panthers as moderate favorites, while going low with Bob and Talbot each keeping scores down.
- Panthers ML (-140 at Caesars and ESPN Bet Sportsbooks)
- Under 6 Goals (-120 at Bet365 and Caesars Sportsbooks)

Chicago Blackhawks
at St. Louis Blues
The Blackhawks (1-2-1) and Blues (2-1-0) meet at Enterprise Center in the second end of a double dip on TNT and HBO Max, with the puck dropping at 9:30 p.m. ET.
St. Louis has dominated this series, of late, winning the past five meetings since Dec. 23, 2023, including an outdoor game at Wrigley Field on Dec. 31 last season, 6-2. The Blues have won seven of the past eight meetings, too, while the Over is 4-1 in the past five encounters.
Chicago picked up a 3-1 win over the Utah Mammoth last time out, Monday, halting a 0-2-1 skid to start the season. The Under is on a 3-1 run. Spencer Knight kicked aside 21 of the 22 shots he faced, while Andre Burakovsky had a power-play goal, which ended up being the game-winning tally, and Ilya Mikheyev had a pair of goals, including an empty-netter.
St. Louis opened with a 5-0 stinker against Minnesota last week, as Jordan Binnington struggled. Joel Hofer, the backup tendy, led the team to a 4-2 win at Calgary on Saturday, while Binner rebounded with a 5-2 win in Vancouver on Monday, as the Over cashed for the second straight time on the road.
Based on the dominance of the Blues in this series, it seems like a good idea to back the home team. However, they'll cost you more than twice your potential return on the moneyline. If you like St. Louis, go with the puck line for a better value. And, we'll go high on the total, based on the series trends.
- Blues -1.5 Goals (+115 at Bet365, Caesars and ESPN Bet Sportsbooks)
- Over 5.5 Goals (-125 at BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, DraftKings and ESPN Bet)
