Harrison will not play in Sunday's game against the Saints due to an illness, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per McElhaney, Harrison, Kirk Cousins and David Onyemata all woke up Sunday morning feeling ill, but only Harrison will sit out of Sunday's regular-season finale. As such, Harrison will end the 2025 regular season with 29 tackles (20 solo), including 2.0 sacks, and two pass defenses across 10 games (four starts) while serving in a rotational role on defense and as a contributor on special teams. The 2018 third-rounder signed a one-year contract with the Falcons in October and will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

Harrison spent most of his time at linebacker last season (135 of his 234 defensive snaps came in the box), but he will transition back to safety for the 2024 season. Harrison spent the first 11 weeks of last season on the Indianapolis practice squad, and shortly after being called up to the active roster he was asked to switch positions to middle linebacker following the release of Shaquille Leonard. Harrison tallied 20 total tackles, two interceptions and one sack in seven regular-season games in 2023. He'll compete for the starting strong safety role, but could continue to be a valuable reserve at multiple positions.

Competing to start at safety
Harrison is competing with Nick Cross to start at free safety for the Colts to begin the season, Stephen Holder of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Harrison played primarily as a linebacker in 2023, as 135 of his 234 defensive snaps came inside the box. However, the Colts are concerned about the inconsistency of Cross, leading them to look for other solutions. Holder also notes that the team could look to outside options if neither Cross nor Harrison can show consistency.
