The Cowboys waived McMath on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
McMath has appeared in 14 regular-season games since being selected by Tennessee in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He joined the Cowboys' practice squad in early January after being let go by the Colts in October. McMath entered training camp with an outside chance of making the 53-man roster, and across the Cowboys' three preseason games, he caught five passes on eight targets for 80 yards. Assuming he clears waivers, McMath will look to catch on with a team in need of wide receiver depth, likely on the practice squad.

McMath was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury toward the end of training camp and was sidelined until Week 14 of the 2022 season as a result. The 2021 sixth-rounder found for the field for 61 offensive snaps and also commanded eight targets, two receptions and 40 yards. McMath should have a chance to make the roster if he can stay healthy, though that says more about the state of the Titans' receiving corps than anything McMath has done to this point in his two-year professional career.
McMath was an impact special teams contributor for the Titans in 2021. Entering his second season, he'll look to gain a larger foothold in offense after tallying only two receptions for eight yards in his rookie campaign. That's unlikely however, after the team acquired Robert Woods and selected both Treylon Burks and Kyle Philips in the NFL Draft.
McMath was another acquisition the Titans made in an effort bolster their wide receiver corps this offseason, after Corey Davis and Adam Humphries moved on in free agency. McMath doesn't have a particularly inspiring collegiate production profile after spending four seasons at LSU, though it's worth noting that he played behind the likes of Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, DJ Chark and Terrace Marshall at various points. Though he'll have to surpass a number of players on the wide receiver depth chart, the 6-3, 217-pound McMath will be a name to watch in training camp, as he could claim a bigger role than currently projected if he can grasp the playbook and show off his physical tools.

Expects to play against Jaguars

December 9, 2022
McMath indicated Friday that he expects to make his season debut against the Jaguars on Sunday, John Glennon of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McMath has been designated for return after spending the season on injured reserve up to this point due to a hip injury, though the Titans will have to officially activate the wide receiver before Sunday's game. If McMath plays, he could jump into a prominent role right away with fellow wide receivers Treylon Burks and C.J. Board sidelined by a concussion and rib injury, respectively.
