23-Year-Old CornerbackCB
Philadelphia Eagles
2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Eagles secondary took a step back last season, so the organization addressed that in the 2024 Draft with Mitchell at 22nd overall and Cooper DeJean with pick 40. Mitchell appears primed to step into a starting role on the outside opposite Darius Slay, though he'll have to beat out James Bradberry for that job. The 6-0, 195-pound corner has 4.33 speed and led a strong Toledo secondary in college, peaking with five interceptions (two pick-sixes) in 2022. Read Past Outlooks

Getting reps in slot
CBPhiladelphia Eagles
August 12, 2024
Mitchell has recently been getting most of the first-team reps at slot corner during training camp, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Mitchell, the rookie first-round pick by the Eagles, has seemingly captured the starting slot corner job from seven-year veteran Avonte Maddox. Mitchell primarily played at outside corner at Toledo, but Philadelphia already has Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers and Kelee Ringo at that position. Mitchell started Friday's preseason game against the Ravens at outside corner before being bumped to the slot, and head coach Vic Fangio said Sunday that it would "be ideal" for the rookie corner to focus his workload on one position. Mitchell played 30 snaps Friday (24 on defense, six on special teams) and finished with one pass defended and zero tackles.

Mitchell should be the frontrunner for Defensive Rookie of the Year, Ben Solak of ESPN suggests.
ANALYSIS
Jared Verse is considered to be the leader for the honor, which lines up with historical data as an edge rusher or linebacker has won the award in seven of the last 10 years. The fact that Mitchell is even in the conversation is indicative of the type of season he's having, with established wide receivers such as Terry McLaurin praising Mitchell for his play. Across 10 games this season, Mitchell has been credited with eight pass breakups while allowing only a 78.4 passer rating when targeted.
