Will have fifth-year option declined
The Browns aren't expected to pick up Pickett's fifth-year option, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland traded for Pickett in a deal that sent Dorian Thompson-Robinson to the Eagles in March, but the organization appears unwilling to commit to giving the former Steeler $22.1 million in guaranteed money by picking up his option. That decision may have been influenced in part by the Browns adding two quarterbacks -- Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders -- via the draft, and the team also re-signed veteran Joe Flacco in mid-April. All four are expected to compete for the Browns' starting QB role during training camp, though Deshaun Watson may have a chance of reclaiming that job when he eventually returns from a ruptured Achilles.

Pickett never regained the starting job last season after injuring his right ankle in Week 13. The Steelers then pulled the plug for good on the 20th overall pick in the 2022 draft, trading him to Philadelphia in March. In 25 games (24 starts) for the Steelers, Pickett was bottom 10 in most passing stats, including ranking 42nd among 44 qualified QBs with a 6.3 YPA. He finished with 13 TDs and 13 INTs. In Philadelphia he’ll have a lot more help than he ever had in Western Pennsylvania, with wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, tight end Dallas Goedert and now RB Saquon Barkley providing more than enough firepower. And if starter Jalen Hurts goes down, the 6-3, 220-pound Pickett might benefit from the Tush Push as well -- he ran for 237 yards and three scores his rookie year but then dropped to 54 yards and one TD last season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Has fan in Bradshaw
Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw recently criticized the Steelers for how they handled the early stages of Pickett's career before trading him to the Eagles last offseason, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pickett was selected with the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft but had just a two-year tenure with the team, appearing in 25 regular-season games overall during that span while completing just 62.6 percent of his passes and posting a 13:13 TD:INT. Bradshaw stated in a radio interview Tuesday he'd liked Pickett from the young signal-caller's college days at Pitt and charged the Steelers with not outfitting him with an adequate offensive line or enough playmaking wide receivers to set him up for success.
