A 2014 first-round pick, Matthews retains his usual role as the Falcons' starting left tackle. He hasn't missed a full game since his rookie season.
Matthews, a 2014 first-round pick, signed a three-year extension ahead of the 2022 campaign and is a stalwart at left tackle. The 31-year-old currently holds the NFL's longest active streak with 144 consecutive games played.
Matthew signed a three-year, $52.5 million extension this offseason and will slot in as the Falcons' left tackle for the foreseeable future.
Matthews has been the rock for the Falcons' offensive line since entering the league in 2014. The left tackle was durable last season playing in all 16 games and he also played clean football as he didn't draw a single holding penalty in the 2020 campaign. The 29-year-old figures to have another solid year, but it'll be interesting to see if the Falcons' offense transitions to more of a run-heavy approach under coach Arthur Smith.
Matthews is expected to start at left tackle for the Falcons in 2015.
Matthews, the sixth overall pick in the 2014 draft, is expected to lock down the right tackle position for the Falcons this season. He should provide a significant boost to the offensive line, which will aid in the fantasy values of both Matt Ryan and Steven Jackson.
