Jake Elliott

Jake Elliott

29-Year-Old KickerK
Philadelphia Eagles
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Elliott has been the Eagles' kicker since 2017, with the past three seasons being his best in terms of FG percentage (including a career-high 93.8 in 2023). He's now up to 86.2 percent on FGAs and 95.8 percent on PATs for his career, and he's gone 15 of 17 from 50-plus yards the past three seasons. The Eagles rewarded Elliott this offseason by making him the second-highest-paid kicker in terms of average annual value, following a 2023 in which he tied for third among kickers in fantasy scoring. The 29-year-old is still attached to a strong roster, though coach Nick Sirianni's proclivity for going for it on fourth downs does turn some potential three-point attempts into one-pointers instead. Elliott converted both of his field-goal tries and all three of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Elliott was good from 34 yards in the first quarter and good from 41 yards in the third. He's missed just one of his 21 attempts from inside 50 yards and just one of his 38 extra-point tries, but he's yet to convert a field goal from 50 yards or more this year.

In six seasons as Philadelphia's kicker, Elliott has converted more than 26 field goals just once. Last season, he led the league in PATs (51) while going 20-for-23 on FGs. Elliott had a nice year, hitting 5 of 6 kicks from 50-plus, but he didn't get much FG volume due to Philadelphia's excellent red-zone offense and aggressiveness on fourth downs. Often, a kicker can be expected to trade a lot of those PATs for FGs the following year, but the Eagles still have everything in place to be a dominant red-zone team -- a mobile QB, solid RBs, big-bodied targets and aggressive coaching. Elliott offers some security due to probable lofty PAT volume, but he's not an elite kicker (84.7 percent career FG rate) and isn't likely to be among the leaders in three-point tries.
Elliott was nearly automatic last season, making 30 of his 33 field-goal attempts, including all three from 50-plus yards. The Eagles don’t often ask Elliott to attempt long kicks, but he had his best season in 2021 and could have more overall kicking opportunities following the addition of WR A.J. Brown. On the other hand, Elliott wasn't great pre-2021, converting only 82.2 percent of FGAs in his first four seasons.
Elliott is entering the second season of a five-year, $19.3 million contract, though the only guarantee remaining is his $990k base salary this season. While that does give the Eagles incentive to keep him around, Elliott's performance last season suggests it wouldn't be the worst idea to add some competition. Either way, he's never finished top 10 among kickers, and isn't likely to start in Year 1 of a rebuild.
Known for his leg strength more so than his accuracy, Elliott has posted near-identical numbers for both FG and PAT percentage in each of his three seasons. The Eagles saw enough to give him a five-year extension, including a full guarantee for his 2020 salary. There's potential for high-end production on a team led by Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz, but the offense has been inconsistent since 2017.
Essentially a league-average kicker through two seasons, Elliott has the right combination of leg strength and team context to outperform his ranking. On the other hand, he hasn't been consistent enough to preclude job competition if he hits a slump at some point. The 24-year-old has potential to take a big step forward, with his track record already including a 61-yard game-winner.
Selected by Cincinnati in Round 5 of the 2017 draft, Elliott lost a camp battle to Randy Bullock, then caught on in Philly after Caleb Sturgis was injured Week 1. The youngster made 17 of 19 tries from 40 or more yards in 15 games, but he did miss three in the 30-39 range, then shanked two PATs (but was perfect on field goals) during the playoffs. He didn't get many chip shots on a team ranked No. 2 in red-zone TD rate.
Selected in the fifth round of this year's draft, Elliott competed with Randy Bullock for the starting job, a battle the rookie lost. Elliott made all 202 of his PAT attempts during his college career, though he was only 21 of 26 on his field-goal attempts last season at the University of Memphis.

Week 5 absence expected
KPhiladelphia Eagles
October 6, 2022
Elliott is expected to sit out Sunday's Week 5 clash against the Cardinals due to an ankle injury, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Elliott's injury occurred late in the third quarter of the Week 4 win over the Jaguars, when he was run into by cornerback Tyson Campbell on a field-goal attempt and drew a roughing the kicker penalty. Philadelphia is expected to roll with University of Texas product Cameron Dicker, who's currently on the practice squad, as the placekicker against Arizona.
