2024 Fantasy Outlook
St. Brown is entering the seventh season of his career after forgettable back-to-back campaigns with the Bears. The 6-5 receiver was a healthy scratch for the first three games and also missed time due to hamstring and pectoral injuries during the 2023 season, resulting in a career-worst 6-52-0 stat line over seven appearances. He's also never logged more than 21 receptions in a season. The Saints need more big-bodied receivers after releasing Michael Thomas in March. St. Brown will compete with veteran Cedrick Wilson and 2023 sixth-round pick A.T. Perry for a spot behind starters Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
St. Brown didn't record any stats during Sunday's matchup versus the Chargers despite seeing an increased role with Cedrick Wilson (hip) out. St. Brown will now wait for his next chance to be elevated for a game.

During his five pro seasons, St. Brown has yet to record more than 21 receptions or one touchdown in a campaign. In 2022, his first year with the Bears, he had plenty of chances to earn playing time in one of the weaker wide receiver groups in the NFL. However, he surpassed 25 yards on only three occasions and had more than two catches twice in 16 games. After acquiring DJ Moore this offseason, the Bears' WR room now includes Moore, Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool. As a result, expect St. Brown to compete with Tyler Scott, Dante Pettis and Velus Jones for reserve roles.
In his first three years in the league with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, St. Brown posted 585 yards and one touchdown over 37 games. He's expected to serve as a depth option for the Bears, though he could move into a significant target share if he moves into the top-three receivers on the depth chart.
St. Brown has had his moments, but he still hasn't carved out a niche in the Packers' offense after three seasons in the league. His experience will help his chances of coming away with a roster spot, but the Packers' receiver room is crowded, so it remains to be seen if he will make the cut. Even if does, he will likely open the campaign with a minor role.
St. Brown showed some flashes as a rookie and was in position to earn a more regular role in the Packers offense last season, but an ankle injury suffered in the preseason landed him on injured reserve, and he didn't return. He's healthy heading into his third season and in relatively the same spot on the depth chart he was a year ago, so he again will have the opportunity to earn snaps. It's unlikely he'll slot in higher than the No. 3 spot, so it'll be tough for him to make much of a fantasy impact on a team intent on running the ball.
Expectations were minimal for St. Brown in his rookie year after being a sixth-round pick, but regardless, he outperformed them, finishing fifth on the team in receiving yards and first in yards per reception among Packers who caught at least 20 passes. St. Brown steadily climbed the depth chart and even surpassed fellow rookie Marquez Valdes-Scantling - selected a round sooner - by the end of the season. MVS possesses a more exciting profile than St. Brown, so he still heads into 2019 a bit higher on fantasy cheat sheets. However, there will be an intriguing competition for snaps during training camp, as both players and Geronimo Allison will battle to head into Week 1 as the No. 2 receiver behind top wideout Davante Adams.
St. Brown looked primed to be a future high pick after a big sophomore season at Notre Dame in 2016, but his production took a step back in 2017 and the buzz quieted. That did not prevent St. Brown from turning pro, though, and although he was not drafted until the sixth round, he landed in an ideal spot: a team with an offense led by Aaron Rodgers. St. Brown was the third of three receivers selected by the Packers in April, but he arguably has the best measurables of the bunch. It's a stretch to expect much of him in his rookie year, but with only two - maybe three - established receivers elsewhere on the roster, he could get a chance to contribute at some point.

Elevation likely with two WRs hurt
WRFree Agent
October 17, 2024
St. Brown is likely to be elevated from the practice squad prior to Thursday's game against the Broncos, as Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports that Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed have been ruled out due to a concussion and knee injury, respectively.
ANALYSIS
The Saints will almost certainly elevate at least one wide receiver from the practice squad since Mason Tipton, Bub Means and Cedrick Wilson are the team's only healthy players at the position. St. Brown has 928 career receiving yards and scored a touchdown in the preseason, so he's probably the best receiving option the Saints can add from the practice squad. The alternatives are Kevin Austin and Jermaine Jackson, neither of whom has a regular-season NFL catch, or Dante Pettis, who has only been on the team's practice squad for two days.
