The conversion rate is inflated by a lack of long attempts -- 11-of-14 from 50-plus yards, with 126 career field-goal attempts overall -- and hasn't translated to success on PATs (92.1 percent), which may help explain why he's a free agent after kicking for Carolina the past three seasons. Pineiro was the only player for the 49ers to make an impact on the box score after scoring his team's only points in a forgettable offensive showing Saturday. The 29-year-old took over for released kicker Jake Moody in Week 2 of the regular season and never looked back, nailing all but one of his 29 FGA with the only miss coming from 50-plus yards out. Pineiro will become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason, but it would be surprising if the 49ers didn't re-sign him after he saved the franchise's catastrophic kicking situation.

Pineiro made 90.6 percent of his field-goal attempts and 90.4 percent of PATs over the past two seasons in Carolina, rebounding nicely after bouncing around the league from 2019 to 2021. He missed the final two games of 2023 with a hamstring injury and finished 27th among kickers in fantasy points, attempting just 20 PATs all year (and missing three). Pineiro should keep the job in 2024, but any chance at relevance requires a massive step forward for the Carolina offense in Year 2 with Bryce Young at quarterback and Year 1 of Dave Canales' coaching tenure.
