ANALYSIS
Reed is coming off of a solid season with the Jets in which he logged 11 passes defensed and 64 tackles (52 solo) over 14 games, and now he's being brought in to reinforce what was a weak passing defense in 2024. He projects to start alongside 2023 second-rounder Brian Branch in 2025.

Reed has been remarkably consistent over the last three years, spanning his last season in Seattle and the first two seasons of his three-year contract with the Jets. The 27-year-old cornerback has posted 9-12 passes defensed and 76-80 tackles in each of those three seasons. Reed has developed into an excellent cover corner opposite Sauce Gardner, and their strong play on the outside coupled with Michael Carter's effectiveness in the slot has helped the Jets allow the fewest yards to wide receivers in each of the past two seasons.
Reed and 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner formed the NFL's most formidable cornerback duo last season, as the Jets allowed the fewest yards in the league to wide receivers. For his part, Reed had 12 passes defensed and one interception, along with 80 tackles (63 solo). The passes defensed and tackle totals both marked career highs for the 26-year-old cornerback. Reed may be even busier in 2023 if Gardner improves further and quarterbacks become more reluctant to throw at the young star.
Reed is expected to start on the outside opposite rookie fourth overall pick Ahmad Gardner after signing a three-year, $33 million contract with the Jets as a free agent. The 28-year-old cornerback had 78 tackles (62 solo), two interceptions and 10 passes defensed for Seattle last season.
Reed came off the non-football injury list and took over as the Seahawks' starting right cornerback Week 8 of last season because both Quinton Dunbar and Tre Flowers were dealing with injuries. Even when those two got healthy, Reed held down the job. The 24-year-old let up a 75.8 passer rating in coverage and finished with 62 tackles, seven pass defenses and two interceptions across 10 games. With Shaquill Griffin now in Jacksonville, Reed has a chance to become the Seahawks' top corner. At the very least, Reed is in line for a full-time role on defense.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could fit with 49ers
CBNew York Jets
March 6, 2025
Reed could be a good fit for the 49ers if San Francisco doesn't re-sign Charvarius Ward, per David DeChant, Jourdan Rodrigue and Vic Tafur of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Reed thrived with the Jets in the defensive system of Robert Saleh, who is back as the defensive coordinator in San Francisco after being relieved of head coaching duties in New York. The 49ers would likely try to find a replacement starting outside cornerback in free agency if Ward signs elsewhere, and Reed would fit the bill, though Reed will have no shortage of interest around the league as arguably the best cornerback in the 2025 free-agent class.
