Slay spent the first 12 years of his career with the Lions and Eagles, but he was let go by Philadelphia following the team's Super Bowl LIX win. The 34-year-old will provide veteran leadership for Pittsburgh in 2025, and he should start at outside cornerback. Slay remained productive as a starter in 2024, logging 49 tackles (39 solo) and 13 pass defenses over 14 regular-season outings, but he was held without an interception during the regular season for the first time since 2013. Past shoulder injury
Slay (rest) was limited in Tuesday's practice.
				ANALYSIS
The Steelers have removed the shoulder issue from Slay's designation, so he appears to be past the injury. Slay has appeared in all five regular-season games this season, logging 19 tackles (17 solo), three pass breakups and one fumble recovery on 88 percent of the defensive snaps.

This section compares his draft workout metrics with players at the same position. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that metric and it would be considered average.

Slay agreed to remain in Philadelphia on a restructured contract last offseason after briefly appearing to be headed elsewhere. Knee issues limited the 11-year veteran to 12 games, the fewest of his career, but he nonetheless recorded 57 tackles, his most since 2020. He also picked off a pair of passes, taking one to the house. He lines up to start at corner again for the Eagles this season, but much will depend on whether his health holds up in his age-33 season, as he also dealt with a reportedly minor back injury in the wild-card game.

    Might remain in Pennsylvania
Slay could sign with the Steelers if he is released by the Eagles, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
				ANALYSIS
While the veteran cornerback hasn't officially been let go yet by the Super Bowl champions, there has been communication between his camp and Pittsburgh ahead of his likely release, so he may end up staying in the Keystone State. Slay is expected to be designated as a post-June 1 cut, but he would be eligible to sign with another team immediately.
