Benford emerged as one of the league's better cornerbacks in 2024, racking up a career-high 64 tackles, including 1.0 sacks (the first of his NFL career), plus 10 passes defensed, including two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. Injuries limited him to 15 regular-season appearances, and he was forced out of the Bills' AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs early due to a concussion, but availability hasn't been a recurrent issue for Benford over the last two seasons. Benford (groin) was limited during Monday's walkthrough practice, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
A groin injury prevented Benford from playing against the Dolphins in Week 10, but he was cleared to play in Sunday's 44-32 win over the Buccaneers, when he logged one solo tackle while playing every single defensive snap. Seeing as he didn't miss a snap on defense Week 11, Benford will likely be available for Thursday's game against the Texans, though he'll have two more opportunities to increase his practice participation.

Benford, who was a sixth-round pick in 2022, took a big step forward in his second year in Buffalo. This coming season, the Villanova product - who recorded 54 tackles, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and 10 passes defended in 2023 - is projected to start at cornerback opposite Rasul Douglas. In that context, Benford looks like a young player on the rise who could provide sleeper value in IDP leagues.
