August 16, 2025
Lucas has been declared out for the remainder of Saturday's preseason game against Philadelphia due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Lucas limped to the locker room in the first half and isn't going to be able to return to the game. The veteran offensive lineman signed with Cleveland during the offseason and is slated to serve in a rotational role at tackle during the 2025 campaign, provided the ankle injury doesn't prove to be serious.

Lucas likely will be the Commanders' swing tackle, coming in to play if either LT Charles Leno or RT Andrew Wylie gets injured.
Lucas has served as the "swing" tackle for a number of teams, including Washington the past two seasons where he made 15 total starts. He'll likely be first off the bench if either LT Charles Leno or RT Samuel Cosmi misses time this season.
Lucas has plenty of experience but likely will be stuck in a swing tackle role this season behind LT Charles Leno and RT Samuel Cosmi.
Lucas was listed as the Lions' starting RT on the team's first unofficial depth chart. LaAdrian Waddle, who started 10 games in 2014, is still rehabbing from knee surgery and will likely compete with Lucas, who started three games in 2014, once he is at full strength. Whoever loses that battle is a safe bet to remain on the team as a swing tackle.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be big value for Browns
OTCleveland Browns
March 22, 2025
Daniel Popper of The Athletic believes Lucas' contract with the Browns could be among the best bargains in the 2025 free-agent class.
ANALYSIS
Lucas has made 54 starts in his NFL career while serving as a reliable swing tackle. He's signed for well below starting left tackle money but could find himself manning that position in Cleveland since Jedrick Wills is a free agent and 2023 fourth-round draft pick Dawand Jones has spent time on IR in each of his first two seasons, most recently requiring arthroscopic knee surgery.
