2025 Fantasy Outlook
Rush comes to Baltimore as Lamar Jackson's new backup after seven seasons in Dallas. Previously, Baltimore had backups with similar skill sets to Jackson. What Rush lacks in comparables to Jackson he makes up for in being experienced and serviceable when called upon. He's gotten extended run on multiple occasions, most recently in 2024 when he took over for an injured Dak Prescott and posted a 12:4 TD:INT at 6.1 YPA while starting the last nine games of the season. Looks poised for Week 5 start
Rush appears likely to start Sunday's game against the Texans with Lamar Jackson (hamstring) expected to be sidelined, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens haven't provided official word on Jackson's status for Week 5 after he exited midway through the third quarter of Sunday's 37-20 loss to Kansas City with a hamstring issue, but a source familiar with the quarterback's injury said that he could be out 2-3 weeks. Jackson plans to try and play this coming Sunday, but in the likely event that he can't, Rush would step in to make his 15th career NFL start and his first with Baltimore. While coming on in relief of Jackson in Week 4, the former Cowboy completed nine of 13 pass attempts for 52 yards. Rush has proven to be a competent game manager in the past, but since he lacks rushing ability and has averaged a middling 6.3 yards per pass attempt for his career, he doesn't profile as an especially enticing fantasy option.

Rush was relegated to mop-up duty last season, as Dak Prescott was healthy for a full season for the first time in four years. Rush didn’t do much when he did get on the field, posting a 6.0 YPA with only two completions longer than 20 yards (on 24 attempts). The Cowboys seem content with Rush’s game-managing skills, and Trey Lance, for whom Dallas traded just before Week 1 last season, never challenged him for the backup job. Perhaps that changes this season. Lance certainly is more physically skilled than Rush and far more mobile -- in the last three seasons, Rush has -7 rushing yards on 30 carries. If Lance’s accuracy finally comes around, he would have more upside, both to the Cowboys and fantasy owners, than Rush.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could draw Week 5 spot start
Rush, who took over the offense in the third quarter of Sunday's 37-20 loss to Kansas City due to Lamar Jackson's hamstring injury, could be in line to start Baltimore's Week 5 game against the Texans, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rush completed nine of 13 passes for 52 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in emergency duty during his first taste of regular-season action since Week 17 of last season, when he was with the Cowboys. The nine-year veteran will presumably take most, if not all, of the first-team reps in practice to begin Week 5 prep, and given the nature of soft-tissue injuries, Jackson could very well be sidelined at least one game.
