2025 Fantasy Outlook
Kmet’s production slipped significantly as the Bears began the Caleb Williams era in 2024, as only the Giants threw fewer passes to their tight ends than Chicago did (70). That number figures to go up for the Bears in 2025, but many of those looks will go to rookie 10th overall pick Colston Loveland, who is an immediate threat to take Kmet's playing time in passing situations. Kmet caught an impressive 47 of his 55 targets (85.5 percent) in 2024, yet finished with his fewest receptions and yards since his rookie campaign in 2020. He dropped from 15 red-zone targets in 2023 to eight in 2024, scoring only four TDs after having at least six in each of the previous two seasons. Kmet has been an iron man, yet to miss a game in his five-year NFL career, but the addition of Loveland means Kmet is unlikely to see a lot of targets this season. Read Past Outlooks

ANALYSIS
Kmet didn't take any reps for the second day in a row and may be trending toward missing Sunday's game in Baltimore. Before the Bears decide whether Kmet takes a designation into the weekend or gets ruled out for Sunday's contest, the team will wait and see if he's able to log any on-field work Friday. Rookie first-round pick Colston Loveland would be in line for a hefty snap count at tight end if Kmet is unable to play in Baltimore.

Kmet finished between seventh and ninth among tight ends last season in targets (90), catches (73) and receiving yards (719), and he was even more involved near the end zone, ranking fifth in red-zone targets (15) and tied for second with six TDs. Rookie first overall pick Caleb Williams is expected to be an instant upgrade for the passing game compared to Justin Fields, but Chicago also beefed up its receiving corps by trading for Keenan Allen and drafting Rome Odunze ninth overall, likely dropping Kmet a couple spots on the totem pole after he was second on the team in targets behind DJ Moore last season. The Bears even added a luxury signing in TE Gerald Everett, who won't take Kmet's starting job but could poach some of the snaps in clear passing situations. The 6-foot-6 Kmet has 13 touchdowns over the past two seasons after scoring only twice through his first two campaigns, and maintaining that prominent red-zone usage will be key to counteracting the influx of target competition. Kmet broke his forearm in the 2023 season finale, but he's never missed a game and came back healthy for OTAs this spring.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Ready to compete for role
Kmet was reassured that he remains a key part of the Bears' plans after they selected Colston Loveland 10th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kmet noted that he was taken aback when the Bears selected Loveland, but he quickly received a reassuring phone call from new head coach Ben Johnson. Kmet also said he hasn't been asked to mentor Loveland, but that he's tried to pass on knowledge as he can. The duo is expected to compete for snaps, but Chicago could also use more 12 personnel.
